An event porta potty is a single-user portable toilet that AllClean rents for weddings, festivals, private parties and races. Call (323) 310-1260 or chat with us with your date, address and guest count. Same-day delivery is available, and one service visit per week is included for every week the units are on site (extra visits cost more).
Event Porta Potty Uses
Weddings, festivals, private parties and races are the most common reasons to rent an event porta potty, and each one needs a different mix of units. A park wedding wants comfort, while a race wants speed and volume. Typical events include:
- Weddings and receptions
- Music festivals and concerts
- Birthday parties and backyard gatherings
- Fun runs, races and sports days
- Fairs, markets and community events
Event Porta Potty Guest Count Sizing
The Portable Sanitation Association International (PSAI) special events chart sets a minimum of 2 event porta potties for 250 guests over four hours, while several rental guides suggest about one unit per 50 guests (5 for 250). One guide suggests one per 25 guests for weddings.
Treat the PSAI numbers below as a minimum, not a target. The one-per-50 and one-per-25 figures are stricter guidelines from other sources, so round up when your crowd is close to a line.
| Guests | Units for 4 hours | Units for 8 hours |
|---|---|---|
| 50 or fewer | 1 | 2 |
| 100 | 2 | 3 |
| 250 | 2 | 3 |
| 500 | 5 | 9 |
| 1,000 | 8 | 12 |
Event Length and Alcohol Adjustments
PSAI says to increase its numbers by 20 to 30 percent when it will be particularly warm (80 degrees F or higher) or alcohol will be served. The chart assumes each guest uses the restroom once every four hours, so a longer event pushes the count up.
PSAI also says to add units when many people need the restroom at about the same time, and to count volunteers, security and vendors along with guests. Read across the table above to your event hours, then round up.
Mixing Standard, Deluxe and ADA Units
Most of an event count is standard porta potty units, with a few upgrades for comfort and access. A good layout mixes unit types so every guest finds what they need, from a quick stop at a race to a formal wedding reception.
A deluxe porta potty adds a flush and a sink, which suits weddings and formal parties. An ADA accessible porta potty has a wide door, a flat floor and grab bars, and the 2010 ADA Standards (section 213.2) say that where portable units are clustered, no more than 5 percent are required to be accessible. Many rental guides suggest at least 5 percent, with a minimum of one.
A hand-wash station gives guests soap and water near food and drink. PSAI lists 1 station for 1 to 10 toilets and 2 for 11 to 20.
Event Porta Potty Rental Cost
Event porta potty rental cost ranges from $146 to $310 per unit for a one-day event and $200 to $348 for 28 days, depending on the city, with ADA units costing more. Your quote depends on the date, location and number of units.
| Event unit by city | One-day event | 28 days, weekly service |
|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles | $146-$190 | $220-$240 |
| New York | $192-$250 | $260-$295 |
| Chicago | $235-$310 | $270-$348 |
| Memphis | Call for a quote | $200-$220 |
| Philadelphia | Call for a quote | $305-$340 |
A short event, such as five hours, is usually quoted as a one-day rental. Ask for a hand-wash station in the same quote.
Servicing During an Event
Servicing during an event means a crew pumps the tank, cleans each unit and restocks paper and sanitizer. At AllClean, one service visit per week is included for every week the units are on site, and extra visits cost more. Tell us when your biggest rush will hit.
A standard tank holds about 60 to 70 gallons, and sources put the number of uses before service at roughly 75 to 200, depending on the crowd. For a multi-day festival or a very large crowd, ask us about added visits when you book.
Event Porta Potty Placement
Place event porta potties on flat, firm ground near the crowd but away from food tables and the main stage. Keep a clear path for the delivery truck and for the service crew, and leave room for the doors to swing fully open.
Spread units out in groups so lines stay short. Put the ADA unit on the most level path, close to the entrance.

Event porta potty FAQs
Answers to common questions about event porta potty.
How many event porta potties do I need for 100 guests?
For a four-hour event with 100 guests, the PSAI chart calls for two units. PSAI says to add 20 to 30 percent if alcohol is served or it is 80 degrees F or hotter.
Can I rent an event porta potty for just a few hours?
Yes. A short event, such as five hours, is usually quoted as a one-day rental. Call or chat with us with your date, address and guest count.
Do I need an ADA unit at my event?
Add one when the public attends or when any guest may need a wider door and more floor space. The 2010 ADA Standards require no more than 5 percent of clustered portable units to be accessible, but many rental guides suggest at least 5 percent, with a minimum of one.
Does an event porta potty get serviced during the event?
The included service visit is one per week for every week the units are on site, so a one-day event does not get a visit mid-event. Servicing during a long event is an extra visit, and extra visits cost more.
Can I get an event porta potty delivered today?
Same-day delivery is available. We answer calls 24 hours a day, so call or chat with us with your address and start time.
